We are a nomadic performance art platform that brings the collective experience of a community of 130 international performers to create three performative and educational events in Livorno (IT), Berlin (DE), and Belgrade (RS).
Livorno (IT) provided the perfect context for our kaleidoscopic and exchange-based departure. From the 18th to the 23rd of September 2023, IMPORT/EXPORT LIVORNO marked the first event of our nomadic performance art platform, melding I/E artists, active participants and spectators together with the Tuscan port city. Livorno was flooded with performances, workshops, art residencies, after-hour meetups, collaboration between local and international artists and cultural realities, all free-of-charge, to which the community answered with a turnout of over three hundred attendees.
With the financial contribution of Creative Europe, il Comune di Livorno, la Fondazione Livorno, the Ministery of Culture of the Republic of Serbia and il Consiglio Regionale Toscana / Partnering associations: mo-wan teatro, Flutgraben e.V. U10 Art Collective / In collaboration with Fortezza Vecchia, Carico Massimo, Cinema Teatro 4 Mori, Ondalab and Conservatorio Pietro Mascagni
Two evenings of live performance presenting a series of curated artworks. 10 artists acting under one roof. A kaleidoscopic and immersive experience in which the audience takes in a crisscross of topics, influences and cultural heritages.
Artist residencies, workshops, symposiums and contextual activities promoting community exchange in each city. This dialogue enriches the artists' research, generating content for new performances to be presented in subsequent events, cities and venues. It ensures that each event is not isolated but rather connected in an ever-growing and evolving community.
IMPORT/EXPORT is the result of a convergence of experiences whose culmination in a pilot event (Belgrade, Serbia 2020) sparked a greater desire to further research a new type of performance art platform. Its methodology format prioritizes transparency in a functional working environment, potentiating communication between its performing artists, artist networks and spaces presenting performance art. IMPORT/EXPORT is a transnational practice based project, igniting cultural exchange with new communities through live artwork and encouraging sound international partnerships. A curatorial handbook will be created from these experiences, to be published and distributed at the end of this first cycle of the project (2026).
